COMING SOON
March 30th - April 13th: 6th Grade Reading Rally!

Dear Parents of The Sixth Graders of Wellesley Middle School,

We would like to inform you of an upcoming charity fundraiser– a sixth grade Reading Rally. This charity event will be held from the 30th of March to the 13th of April.

In this meaningful event, sixth grade students read as much as they can in two weeks.  They will get sponsors (friends, parents, neighbors- anybody can be a sponsor) to donate money either by book, by page, or with a flat rate.  This year our chosen charity is the Jimmy Fund, an important charity for cancer research. Approximately 39 percent of people are diagnosed with cancer once in their lifetime according to the American Cancer Society, and we are excited to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

This week, students from HR 323 will visit 6th grade advisories to explain the Reading Rally, share sponsor sheets, and share Books Read sheets.

We would like to have every sixth grade student participate, because every page counts.  Last year we raised over $10,000 and it would be very exciting to do that again!

Thank you,

Advisory 323 students

8TH GRADE ACTIVITIES

Dear 8th Grade Parents & Caregivers,

Thank you for attending our zoom call last Monday and getting involved! The turnout this year has been amazing and we are so grateful for your time and donations. We have raised $8K so far from over 100 families and going strong. Last year’s 8th grade expenses were between $9-$10K, so the finish line isn’t too far off!

Our class gift this year will be 15 cornhole boards for future school-wide events and the 8th grade dance from year-to-year. We are thrilled to be able to present this gift to the school with your generosity.

These are the dates we know as of now:

  • Community Service Day/Boston Scavenger Hunt: June 9th and 12th
  • 8th Grade Dance: June 18th (most likely)
  • 8th Grade Luncheon: Week of June 15th (tentative)
  • Moving Up Ceremony: June 22nd (tentative)

The PTO is collecting $75 per 8th grader to cover event costs. Funds go towards bus transportation, dance decor and pizza/slushies, luncheon food/beverage, the class gift to WMS previously mentioned, and graduation balloons/banner.

Donations may be made via our WMS PTO Venmo (@wellesleymspto - look under “Businesses”) or by mailing a check to:

ANNUAL APPEAL FOR PTO DONATIONS - ONE AND DONE!

We appreciate all the families who have already donated. Remember, the PTO only asks for ONE SINGLE DONATION each year.  Unlike elementary school, we have NO fundraising events and NO additional asks for teacher or staff gifts.  We only ask for one donation (suggested at $125 per student), which covers all PTO-sponsored events and PTO-subsidized school activities. Throughout the year, we ask for your time in volunteering for various events, and may ask for small food and drink donations, but that’s it!  90% of the PTO budget comes from this single annual appeal (about 10% comes from Spirit Wear sales and the Book Fair).  Your donation allows us to support all kinds of activities and grants, including:

  • Grants to support classroom enrichment (speakers, events, field trips and more!)

  • Holiday gifts for staff

  • Speaker fees

  • Creative Arts & Science grants

  • Classroom Enrichment

  • Mini Marathon

  • Turkey Promenade

  • After school festivals

  • Teacher and Staff appreciation events

  • End of Year gifts for teachers and staff

  • Snacks for faculty meetings

Here is the link to donate: WMS PTO Annual Appeal. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
