MONDAY: School Council Entry Deadline This Thursday at Back-To-School night we will elect (via paper ballot) 2 parent reps to the WMS School Council for a 2-year term. Each year, 2 parents roll off the council while 2 stay on. Monthly meetings are run by Principal Dr. Ito and coordinated through the WMS Main Office by Patty Chong. We’d like to thank parents, Scott Lainer and Amy Hernandez, for serving on School Council for the last 2 years. Julie Herlihy and Vahideh Nilforoshan will be staying on the council for their second year of service. To apply to be a parent rep on the council, please email wmsptoinfo@gmail.com with the following by MONDAY, 9/25 @ NOON: - Briefly describe yourself and any volunteer service you have done within your school or community
- Describe why you would like to be part of WMS School Council
- Please keep the statement to a few paragraphs
- We'll be turning statements into a paper ballot for parents to cast their votes confidentially on Back-To-School night. The plan is to put ballots in student backpacks on Wednesday. (Thus, the quick turnaround...our apologies)
School Council conducts open discussions and makes recommendations on matters of school policy, school culture, curriculum, and other issues brought to its attention from its respective constituencies. School Council is mandated by the state education department and is composed of students, teachers, parents, and community members. |
