SUBJECT: Happening This Week at WMS: Week of 9/11

WMS PTO NEWSLETTER

Week of 9/11 - 9/15

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Wellesley Middle School!

We are excited you’re here and look forward to a fantastic and productive year ahead. The WMS Parent Teacher Organization currently consists of a dynamic team of 26 dedicated parents and we are growing quickly.

All parents of our students are an integral part of the WMS PTO. We invite you to join us throughout the year as we coordinate community-building events such as the “Turkey Promenade” Food Donation Drive, the “Mini Marathon” Fun Run, Teacher Appreciation Week, a “French-Fete”, Guest Speakers to aid in social-emotional learning, and much more.

Whether your passions lie in helping out the library staff, nursing staff, delivering snacks for faculty meetings, or simply showing up to pack food donations into boxes, we have many ways to get involved and hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Your 2023-2024 PTO Presidents
Katie Sullivan & Annie Oh

Need a Cool Job?

We are looking for a Faculty Snack Coordinator to help the PTO buy and deliver snacks like popcorn, fruit, and cookies to 10 faculty meetings throughout the year. Last year we had one main coordinator who recruited 8 helpers through the newsletter to divide and conquer. There are about 170 staff members and all expenses will be fully reimbursed by the PTO. This job takes about 1-2 hours per month and the list of snacks will be provided. If this sounds like something you could help coordinate please email Katie Sullivan, katiebsullivan@me.com, by September 8th.

We are also looking for 3-4 friends to help us coordinate the Turkey Promenade this November. One coordinator to source boxes for packing food donations (4 hour commitment), one to create a sign-up genius for recruiting volunteers the day-of the event (2 hour commitment), one to buy some breakfast snacks (2 hour commitment), and one to help us add a little fun with music or something festive (2 hour commitment). Please reach out to katiebsullivan@me.com if you would like to coordinate this meaningful event for the school.

Other PTO helpers are needed for: Yearbook Liaison, Book Fair Coordinator (May/June), Concert Flower Coordinator (if you have a child in band or chorus), Parent Advisory Council Representative, and Spirit Wear sales (see below).

Spirit Wear

Our parent helper, Cathy Tai, will be selling WMS spirit wear again this year such as hoodies, t-shirts, and sweatpants from the ticket window outside the auditorium (Donizetti entrance) when we have half day Wednesdays. She could use a helper here and there if you have an hour free those days. Please stop by to buy some merch to support the PTO or email her at wmspto.spiritwear@gmail.com to inquire about inventory and pricing.
